What to expect
Your first session
A first session is a conversation, not a test. It lasts 50 minutes.
- 01
Step 1: Before you come
You get the fee in writing, and a link to the intake forms on the practice portal. Please do not send medical details through this website.
- 02
Step 2: The first conversation
You tell your clinician what you want from therapy, what pace feels right and what you want to leave alone for now. You do not need the right words.
- 03
Step 3: How we would work
Your clinician explains the method, what it asks of you, what it can stir up and the limits of confidentiality. Then you decide whether to go on.
- 04
Step 4: Before you leave
You agree on a next step, and you can ask about fees and cancellation.
Questions
About the first session
01Do I have to talk about everything?
No. You decide what to share and when. Many first sessions are about pace and what you want from therapy.
02Is there anything to prepare?
Nothing special. If you are coming to the office, tell us if anything would make the visit easier.
03What if it is not a fit?
Then say so, and we will help you find a clinician on our team, or someone elsewhere, who is. The 15-minute fit call is one way to find out before you book.
